Nearly one-in-ten U.S. adults (8%) get news through Twitter (Pew, 2013). More recent scandals, such as the Zimmerman trial have proven Twitter’s power as a source of information. Jason Bellini from WSJ live claims, “in the 26 hours after the verdict last July, nearly 5 millions tweets went out about it”. The question is…will twitter outdo companies such as Facebook? Where exactly does Twitter stand on all this?
